My name is __________. I am a constituent, and my zip code is _______. I am a member of Indivisible SF.

[For Speaker Rivas] I am disappointed that that Assemblymember Rivas shelved AB 1999 without a vote. The Utility Tax is an unpopular and unfair burden that punishes taxpayers for converting to renewable energy. I hope Speaker Rivas revives AB 1999 and allows our voices to be heard.

[For Gov. Newsom] I am disappointed that that Assemblymember Rivas shelved AB 1999 without a vote. The Utility Tax is an unpopular and unfair burden on taxpayers who are trying to convert to renewable energy. I hope the Governor puts his support behind AB 1999.

[For Phil Ting] I am disappointed that AB 1999 was shelved without a vote! I hope you will fight to revive AB 1999 -please find a way to stop the Big Utility Tax before the Legislature adjourns in August.

Background

Last year, California lawmakers rushed through a bill that imposed a Utility Tax on ratepayers. There’s nothing preventing this fee from rising even higher in the future.

AB 1999 would cap the Utility Tax at $10 per month and prohibit it from rising faster than inflation, but it has been undemocratically denied a hearing by Assembly Speaker Rivas. The bill is now on life support. Let’s let him know that California ratepayers are paying attention and we need relief.
